2021 IS FINALLY HERE, AND WE ARE SPEAKING GOOD THINGS INTO EXISTENCE!

2021! We made it to the new year!!!

Hmm, I’m sure we can all agree that 2020 went by so fast! I can remember writing a blog post last year April, on how we can stay motivated during the pandemic.

Although, 2020 had its challenges, I experienced so much personal development, which I am grateful to God for.

2020 has made me see life in a new lens. If there’s anything I learned from 2020, it is the importance of having a close relationship with God, the value of quality friendships and relationships, and the fact that no one is too young to die, hence it’s never too early/late to start doing what you love/enjoy.

I couldn’t possibly share my experience alone. So, here Is what some of my friends had to say about the year 2020, and their expectations for 2021.

“2020 was a rollercoaster year for me, as I presume it was for everyone. I was very optimistic about the year as it started on the right foot. However, three months into the year, things didn’t look rosy anymore as we were visited by the coronavirus. I had to stop school indefinitely, thereby making me unable to achieve the academic goal for the year.

Regardless of that, I’m grateful for the joy of family and friends and I’m grateful for good health.

I expect to achieve my academic goal that I was unable to achieve in 2020 in 2021. And I hope an effective cure is found to eradicate Covid-19”.

“I would always call 2020 a wretched year, because it was. I started the year very hopeful and ambitious. It was quite the rollercoaster.

I only checked two of my many goals, and that’s alright considering the obvious challenges.

I achieved high points and low points in both my academics and personal life. I knew both extreme pain and extreme joy. I learned to be kinder to myself and others, learned to live a little, and love a bit more.

In all, I’m grateful for my friends and family who made this year a bit more bearable, and for my renewed love for cats. 2021 better be good. I have very high expectations”.

“2020 was filled with ups and downs. I lost loved ones to Covid and other illnesses. However, I am grateful for the personal growth and development I experienced in 2020. I completed my Master’s Program and started another one (trust me I don’t like school lol).

I know 2021 is going to be a better year!”

2020 Summarised

“I think people will agree when I say that 2020 was both terrible and awesome. At the start of the lockdown, I was so confused about how to keep myself occupied considering that I switched from having a daily routine to not knowing what to do to occupy myself. Sure, there were free courses and all that but nothing I could really commit to, and the update on the COVID-19 positive victims was enough to make anyone go crazy as the pandemic wasn’t showing any signs of improvement anytime soon.

However, when I realized that this was to be our reality for a while, I had to get used to it and I have to say this is where the awesome part comes in. There was a lot of bonding and sharing amongst family and friends. The beauty of it was that we were united in some of the troubles we complained about and that took the friendship to a stronger and deeper level. I am in no way exaggerating when I say that 2020 brought a lot of self-love, self-admiration, and self-appreciation not just to me but many others as well. Last but not least, it also made us appreciate the little things of life, the little moments, and the people who make those moments precious.

Thoughts for The New Year

In as much as 2020 had its limitations, it also made me aware of a lot of things that I’d like to implement henceforth. I believe we should set goals to make the most of the year as much as possible and whereas some people do a good job of motivating themselves with no help needed, I recommend having an accountability partner in this new year. Yes, this will be someone I trust and that I can be vulnerable with. I believe we all have that one person.

Another is to plan my year as much as possible, down to the days, weeks, and months, so that I can see how my days are spent.

In summary, I want 2021, the start of another decade to be a more proactive and productive year for me as much as possible. And for the most important part for me, I want to walk in God’s purpose for me this new year.

Wow!! I guess I’m all booked out for 2021!”

VICTORY

2020 taught me how to be grateful for what i have, work with what i have and become the problem solver not the victim. I’m very grateful for everything i achieved this year (NYSC, HSE, Business @tories_cakenmore), despite the shortcomings.

I’m attaining greater heights in 2021!

We are all hoping that 2021 will be a better year!

(While we wait for the vaccine, don’t forget to wear your mask)

Happy New Year all.

How was 2020 for you? And what are your expectations for the new year?
