Why did I create this blog?
Upcoming university students really have a hard time figuring out what to expect in university. No one really tells them in detail, just the part that there is going to be loads of fun. I thought it was all about fun and freedom from secondary school. Some people think university is just about more fun and less work...lol... you wish!

Well, GCSEs/O levels weren't easy, so I don't blame you to think that it is less stressful. Life in university especially as an international student actually entails a lot. I didn't find it easy the first few months, I found adapting difficult, so I had to make friends really quickly by joining societies. I also found the teaching technique different and a bit hard. It wasn't what I was used to, so I always had to meet with my tutors. That was really helpful because I panicked a lot about essays. I remember getting a 2:2 on my first essay which really shook me because I was good at essay writing in secondary school. Meeting up with lecturers during office hours definitely helped me improve in academics. And I was able to get a first on my next essay. That was when I had a wake-up call and realised that university is not a key to freedom from secondary school!!!

No one will force you to do assignments unlike secondary school where you are probably punished.... So just do everything on time, and don’t procrastinate. But university really gives you the chance to build and develop yourself. Making friends can be hard but remember to be yourself, and not to be afraid to meet new people… As I like to tell the freshers, ‘make the best out of uni, don’t overwork yourself and don’t play too much, just keep the balance. And one final advice ‘AVOID PLAGIARISM’!
With advice and more tips from other students, you are going to find it even easier to know what to expect in uni, and how to adapt easily if you are an international student.
