BACKGROUND

Dupe Adetoun Adeyemi-Olaniyan AKA Dupsy is a first year student of the University of Nottingham studying Media and International relations. She speaks about her dream job and her role model.

TELL US ABOUT YOU

I'm a short girl, just 5'3. I love doing sporting activities. I'm addicted to chocolate, I'm a chocoholic. I'm the only child of my parents, although I'm not spoilt so don't get the wrong idea. I look for trouble a lot. I don't really have a favourite colour but I would say black. My favourite brands are Forever 21 and New look, though I also shop at H&M and Accessorize. I like wearing dresses...dresses that accentuate my curves...I like to look like an hour glass (laughing). I'm into Mr Eazi's and Dremo's songs, they are my favourite artistes.

YOUR ROLE MODEL/ INSPIRATION

Stephanie Coker is my role model and inspiration, I just love her. I've read about her background, what she has done and everything she has done to get to where she is right now. She had my dream job to work at MTV Base but still everything she's doing right now is the line of work I want to go into. I want to be a TV personality and I want to be popular.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST DAY OF UNI

It was quite long and harsh for me because I resumed four weeks after resumption date. I didn't really like the first day. There was a particular teacher I didn't like, she seemed very mean and rude but as time went on I got into the groove of things.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR DAILY LIFE

There's not much..during the week I wake up two hours before my class begins. I get ready for school and go for my lectures. While in class I listen to the teacher and I try hard to listen to the boring ones. I'm always so tired when I get back from school, so I just have a nap. I try to read my books when i wake up, then eat and watch TV. During the weekends, especially Fridays I go out to have some fun. I don't go out on Saturdays except I have to...maybe go shopping. I chill with friends on Sundays.

WHAT SKILLS HAVE YOU LEARNT SO FAR IN THE UNIVERSITY?

Wow...I've learnt how to write really long essays....academic writing and how to avoid plagiarism. I'ts really difficult. Thank God I did my foundation year in the UK this helped me prepare for first year.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT UNI?

The freedom!! Been in the university exposes us to the world, you get to see the real thing and make your own decisions..whether right or wrong.

HOW HAS LIVING IN THE UK BEEN FOR YOU?

Its been hard and fun. Hard in terms of the exchange rate..The Pound and Naira thing. I'm always broke at the fourth week of the month. While the fun time is when I get to spend the money and have fun.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR COURSE

My course is a joint hons degree. I'm doing two courses at the same time which isn't that easy but if you get the hang of it, it won't be that hard. I'm studying the theoretical part of media where you get to understand the in depth of what media is. While the International Relations part is the study of politics, history and political economy....basically the history is about politics and countries.

MOST CHALLENGING THING ABOUT UNI LIFE

The most challenging thing is reading and doing my coursework because I hate reading. It is also having to go to school because the campus is 30 mins away from where I live by bus.
